Kyiv: Ukraine will not invite PACE observers to parliamentary elections

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy canceled the invitation for members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to observe the early parliamentary elections in Ukraine, reports the head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Vladimir Aryev.

Earlier, Ukrainian Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs recommended the Verkhovna Rada to suspend the participation of permanent Ukrainian delegation in the PACE.

Earlier, PACE removed all restrictions from the Russian delegation. On June 26, the powers of the Russian commission to PACE were restored.

Ukraine recalled its Ambassador to the Council of Europe Dmytro Kuleba for discussions in connection with the PACE decision.

The Russian delegation did not participate in the PACE sessions for several years after it was deprived of some of its powers because of the situation with Crimea and the events in the Donbas. Then the Russian Federation stopped paying contributions to the Council of Europe, which could lead to its exclusion from the organization.
