Ukrainian Armed Forces suffer casualties in an ambush in the Donbas

On Sunday, May 6, Ukrainian military were ambushed by the separatists and triggered a land mine. One soldier was killed and two more were injured, the press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) posted on Facebook.

"On May 6, during a patrol of the defended area, a group of servicemen from a mechanized battalion operating in the Horlivka area was ambushed. An unknown explosive device was installed on the patrol route. As a result of the explosion, one soldier was killed and two wounded," the report said.

When a backup group from the nearest stronghold arrived at the site of the incident, separatist recon groups opened fire at them. "After a short exchange of fire, the backup group pursued the enemy, killing three separatists," the JFO headquarters reported. They also added that the units of the Joint Forces were brought into a state of full combat readiness.

Earlier, it was reported that on Sunday, May 6, at about 11:00 a.m., the separatists fired twice with 152mm and 122mm artillery at the Zaitseve settlement of the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region.
