US planes and drones carry out hours-long reconnaissance near Russian borders

Two American planes and an unmanned aerial vehicle undertook reconnaissance flights along the Russian borders in the Black and Baltic Seas.

According to the PlaneRadar service, the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol plane of the US Navy, and an unmanned (UAV) surveillance aircraft RQ-4B Global Hawk, carried out hours-long reconnaissance flights along Russian borders in the Black Sea.  

“RQ-4B-30 Global Hawk unmanned surveillance aircraft (UAV) of the US Air Force left Sigonella airbase and ,after the reconnaissance mission near the demarcation line in the Donbas, continued reconnaissance flight  along the Russian Black Sea shore,”  PlaneRadar reported.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 19 reconnaissance aircraft were detected near the Russian border within one week.  

Additionally, reconnaissance was conducted by the American aircraft E-8 Joint Stars near the Kaliningrad region, Interfax informs, citing information from Western aviation sources. The E-8 aircraft conducted a long flight near the Russian border, remaining in Polish airspace.

On June 9, the American unmanned surveillance aircraft RQ-4B Global Hawk conducted reconnaissance near the Western Russian borders. The drone conducted reconnaissance for more than 11 hours. Most of the time, the aircraft remained in Lithuanian airspace at an altitude of 16,000 meters. It conducted reconnaissance near the Kaliningrad, Leningrad and Pskov regions before moving to the Polish airspace.
