Zelensky to Poroshenko: I am the result of your mistakes

In 2014, Presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky voted for Petro Poroshenko. However, this was a mistake, said Zelensky, who is leading the polls in the presidential race, during the debate at the National Sports Complex Olimpiyskiy in Kyiv

“Could I ever have imagined that I, a simple guy from Kryvyi Rih, would compete for the presidency against a man whom we confidently and unconditionally elected president of Ukraine in 2014? What is most interesting is that I voted for Mr. Poroshenko, but I was wrong. We were wrong,” Zelensky said.

Also, Zelensky asserted, he did not think that the Revolution of Dignity “would be taken advantage of by scoundrels.”

“I will explain our mistake... do not cry out, please, we are speaking about the Revolution of Dignity and about the war. We voted for one Poroshenko, but elected another,” he added.

According to him, he could not imagine that “a new way of living” would mean survival, that “I will end the war in two weeks” [ promises made by Poroshenko] would lead to Ilovaisk and Debaltseve [battles in the Donbas].

“The first one shouts: “Putin, I’ll show you,” and the second, through Medvedchuk, sends his little hellos to Moscow. One opens the school and the second constantly opens “Roshen” stores. The first opens nearly 12 kilometers of a new road and the second closes the Nasirov [Head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine who was accused of corruption] former  case. The first one says that he is transferring business to a blind trust and the second one is increasing his fortune,” he added.

“Maybe Ukraine’s budget should be transferred to a blind trust?” Maybe that would work ok?” Zelensky exclaimed.

He also reinforced that he is not a politician, but “a simple person who has come to break down this system.”

“I am the result of your mistakes and promises,” the candidate summarized.
