10 villages in a week: Ukraine liberates Novomykhailivka and pushes Russian forces back near Zelenyi Hai

Ukraine’s Armed Forces are making gains on the Lyman axis, fully pushing Russian units out of the village of Novomykhailivka. They also carried out a successful special operation near a settlement by Novopavlivka, about 260 kilometers to the west.

As of the morning of August 25, Ukrainian units have liberated Novomykhailivka, analysts at DeepState said. At the same time, Russian forces have advanced in two areas — near Udachne, west of Pokrovsk, and near the village of Sobolivka on the western outskirts of Kupyansk. A series of DeepState posts lists roughly a dozen locations where Ukrainian forces saw gains over the past week, from August 15–17 through August 25.

In its latest update, DeepState reports Ukrainian troops advanced nearly 3 km in Novomykhailivka on the Lyman axis, fully clearing the settlement of Russian troops. There are also gains in Zelenyi Hai near the N15 highway toward Pokrovsk and Zaporizhzhia: Russian units were pushed back by nearly a kilometer, according to the group’s mapping.

In previous DeepState updates, a series of Ukrainian gains over the past week includes:

- August 24 - Russian units were pushed back near Andriivka on the Sumy axis.

- August 22 - Ukrainian forces regained control of the village of Tolste on the Novopavlivka axis near the N15 highway.

- August 15–17 - a successful clearance of a breach near Dobropillya and Pokrovsk. Six settlements where Russian infantry was neutralized are listed: Hruzke, Rubizhne, Novovodiane, Petrovka, Vesele, Zolotyi Kolodyaz.

Based on the analysts’ reports, there are a total of 10 locations where Ukrainian forces achieved gains over the past seven days (including Novomykhailivka and Zelenyi Hai).

DeepState named Defense Forces units credited with the advances across different sectors. They include the Ukrainian 1st Army Corps; the 3rd Assault Brigade; the 79th and 82nd Air Assault Brigades; the 1st and 425th Assault Regiments; the 25th Assault Brigade; the 2nd Battalion of the 92nd Assault Brigade; the 32nd and 93rd Mechanized Brigades; the 38th Marine Brigade and the 14th Special-Purpose Brigade; the Unmanned Systems Forces commanded by Robert Brovdi; as well as units of the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine.

“Our fighters have begun working to clear and block [Russian forces] in the areas they hold,” the DeepState note said.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s General Staff did not comment on the battlefield reports. In a Facebook update posted the morning of August 25, it said there were 85 combat engagements over the past day. The most intense fighting was near Pokrovsk (31), Novopavlivka (12) and Siversk (11).
