Family members of POWs are ready to join the blockade of the Donbas

The family members of Ukrainian prisoners said in a video message that they are ready to join the blockade of the Donbas, according to a statement posted by the Chairman of the Ukrainian Association of Patriots (UKROP), Mykola Kolesnyk, on his Facebook page.

“If needed, we will go to the blockade. If this will help to release our people or break the deadlock over this issue, then we fully support yo and we are grateful that you remember us,” one of the women stated, addressing the blockade participants. In addition, Mykola Kolesnyk, added the comment “Wait, we will be there tomorrow,” to the video.

Mothers and wives of prisoners of war noted that they have asked all competent public authorities, media, and even international organizations to help to release members of their families. However, they didn’t get assistance. Therefore, according to them, the cessation of trade with the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics that allow officials and separatists to make money is the only effective way to break the deadlock over this issue.

The families of prisoners called on acting officials not to impede the blockade with the separatist-held areas of the Donbas. “Men who fought in Ilovaisk and Debaltseve in 2014 were among the first who rushed to protect our borders, have the right to stand there and dictate terms. They went to fight not for someone’s money but for their compatriots,” the video message says.
