Polish Defense Minister: Russia is currently the largest threat to world security

According to Macierewicz, Russia should stop imposing its views and rules on other states and peoples through military force.

The Polish Minister of Defense, Anthony Macierewicz, said that Russia is currently the biggest threat to world security as reported by PAP. "With all due respect to the Russian people and especially to Russian artists... it doesn't change the fact that Russia is the biggest threat to global security today," the Minister said.

According to him, Russia is country with a completely different design compared to other western countries, which means that "any standards that are developed outside its territory are not applicable for Russia itself."

"No country in recent history has undermined the world order as Russia has. They attacked Georgia first, and then Ukraine and now they permanently occupy the territory of an independent state, openly stating that it does not want to accept the independence of the state and its sovereignty, seeking to impose its solution not only for the individual countries, but also in the general European order," Macierewicz added.

"Russia must understand that it is one of many equal members of the world community where all countries are connected, but has no right to continually impose its views and its rules with the help of their military forces on other states and peoples," the head of the Polish Defense Ministry said.

According to Macierewicz, the decisions made during the meeting of the Defense Ministers of NATO countries and the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw in July, "are historical steps in the development of the changing architecture of NATO," and its adaptation to the challenges that come from Russia.

On the 14th of June, 2016 it was announced that by the beginning of 2017, NATO plans to place four of its multinational battalions in Eastern Europe - in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland, composed of an estimated 4,000 soldiers and officers. Ultimately, the final decision must be made at the Alliance's Summit, which will be held in Warsaw on 8-9 July 2016.
