US drone conducts reconnaissance flight over the Donbas
The strategic American unmanned surveillance aircraft RQ-4A Global Hawk made a reconnaissance flight along the line of demarcation in the Donbas on Sunday, July 16, reported Interfax news agency with reference to websites that monitor flights of military aircraft.
It was noted that during the flight, a long-distance drone with the call sign UAVGH000 flew from north to south along the line of demarcation in the Donbas for hours without crossing it. The drone flew at an altitude of 16,700 meters.
Taking into account the drone’s abilities to conduct reconnaissance to a depth of up to 300 km, the RQ-4A Global Hawk could observe the whole territory of the LPR (Luhansk People’s Republic) and DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic), as well as the border regions of Russia.
The US drone reportedly flew out of the Sigonella airbase in Sicily. It entered Ukrainian airspace over the Mykolaiv region and headed towards Mariupol. After completing the assignment in the Donbas, it left Ukraine north of Moldova.
The RQ-4A Global Hawk has been known to conduct reconnaissance flights in the Donbas almost every month. Its earlier flights to the line of demarcation in the Donbas were recorded on May 14.
