Ukrainian politician: OSCE reports on Donbas are the only documents that the international community believes
As of today, the reports of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission are the only documents trusted and recognized by the international community, stated the permanent representative of Ukraine at all international organizations in Vienna, Ihor Prokopchuk in an interview with LB.ru.
Prokopchuk explained this by the fact that the mission consists of representatives of 57 countries that are members of the OSCE, which conditions the reliability of these reports.
“The main threat at the moment is related to the restrictions imposed on the movement of the SMM (Special Monitoring Mission) patrols in the territory occupied by Russia, by the occupying structures of the Russian Federation. The point is that there are entire regions where the SMM does not actually have a permit… If they are not able to include in their report information on a significant part of the areas they have no access to, this already casts doubt on the completeness of the actual picture in the conflict zone,” Prokopchuk said.
He added that at the last meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on September 27, the regular report once again noted the significant restrictions in the occupied parts of the Donbas.
“First of all, this concerns the southern regions of the Donetsk regions and the regions adjacent to the border with the Russian Federation, which are not controlled by the Ukrainian government. Russians and their occupation administration simply do not allow the SMM to do this,” the permanent representative said.
Earlier, Prokopchuk had announced that the Russian Federation is currently in complete isolation in the discussions within the OSCE. As part of discussions, numerous irrefutable facts proving the Russian aggression are cited. Therefore, there is no confidence in the information of Russia presented to OSCE.
