The USA begins strategic nuclear forces exercises

On Monday, October 29, the US launched its strategic nuclear forces annual exercises, Global Thunder-2019 with special emphasis on nuclear deterrence, the Head of the US Strategic Command of the US Armed Forces, General John Hyten told journalists.

According to Hyten, “the nuclear triad is the backbone of strategic deterrence. Exercises like these integrate our unique capabilities across the joint force, in order to deter strategic threats and defend the nation. Our forces must be ready and prepared to execute orders globally wherever and whenever needed," TASS reports.

Other armed forces from Australia, Great Britain, Denmark, Canada and the Republic of Korea will also participate in the maneuvers. "Deterrence in the 21st century has to be a global approach, and it must involve our allies and partners," said Hyten.

During Global Thunder-2019, the participating nation's will practice global attack and missile defense scenarios.
