Russia carries out naval exercises in the Baltic Sea

The Russian Federation Navy’s Baltic fleet comprising 24 warships and various support vessels has been deployed in the Baltic Sea as part of its military exercises in the Kaliningrad region, ERR.ee reported.

Naval aviation conducted training in the same area, conducting bomb strikes on ground targets. The maneuvers took place in the Dobrovolsky military firing range, located on the border with Lithuania.

Russia has been conducting military exercises in the Baltic Sea on a regular basis.

Recently Russia deployed ‘Iskander’ tactical missile systems in the Kaliningrad region on a permanent basis. The system can carry a nuclear payload. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite warned that the placement of Iskanders in Kaliningrad constitutes a threat to Europe.
